Travel

Both of Houston’s major airports located within an hour of Rice. Bush International (IAH) is located roughly 40 minutes north of Rice’s campus, while Houston Hobby (HOU) is located roughly 25 minutes southeast.

Shuttles run from both airports to hotels near the university, and reservations can be made online at SuperShuttle. If you are interested in trying to share a shuttle reservation with fellow presenters, please let us know your flight plans, and we will try to match you up as best we can.

Public Transportation

The Houston METRO system offers convenient access to Rice’s campus via both bus and light rail.

When taking the bus, the Main St @ University Blvd and Main St @ Cambridge stops offer the most convenient access to Herring Hall, where the Department of Linguistics is located.

When taking the light rail, the Memorial Hermann Hospital / Houston Zoo stop is closest to Herring Hall, but the Dryden / TMC and Hermann Park / Rice University also offer convenient access to campus.

Rice Shuttles

The University also runs a fleet of air-conditioned and lift-equipped shuttle buses that provide easy transportation throughout campus and to select locations in the area.

Lodging

Our conference space is located in the heart of Rice’s campus, so we recommend staying at hotels near Rice University.
